Well, I know this is not exciting for anybody else out there, but I am almost ready to send my PowerBook off to Texas to have the recalled screen replaced. Spent two days straight burning DVDs, and only have about 60 minutes of work ahead of me tonight before I can send some final emails and then set the Book up to be received at Apple. I will have to change the background to grey, so they can more easily see the defects (although, I can see them even in full sunlight!). And I may clean some chaff from the hard drive, and remove some duplicate files. Every GB counts, and I am running out. Maybe I will send it on Monday? It would be silly to send it out on the weekend.. I will keep the world posted on further developments.

I did check in at the Corvallis Mac store (and the Eugene one too) to find out if there was any alternative to the Texas method, but that is the only way to go according to Apple HQ. So far I have no reason to doubt their wisdom. Too bad they can't loan me an iBook for the week.. then I might be able to talk the folks into an Apple Adoption. One day soon...
